The basic problem with those trying to quit using willpower is
that willpower is a function of the conscious mind. But habits, like smoking,
are controlled by the subconscious mind. So, willpower is usually not enough to
break the habit. As such, if they quit for awhile, they often relapse.
Why? The imagination, the force of the subconscious mind,
defeats willpower every time. Because while the will is trying to force you not
to, the imagination is telling you how great it is going to be. Finally, desire for
the imagined pleasure eventually wins out and the person lights one up. What
happens next is worst of all. The person beats themselves up for being a
weak willed failure, causing them to lose self-confidence and belief in themselves. And because they still want to quit, they have to mentally build
themselves up all over again to go through the same self-defeating process!
But that is no longer necessary! Hypnosis / hypnotherapy gets the imagination
and the will working together. So instead of fighting, they strengthen
each other
and that builds a very powerful force for good!
